… between what they say and what they achieve!
It is really sad to watch Dr Alan Hooper, the Lead Technologist of the Technology Strategy Board give a great presentation on what “UK plc” needs in terms of funding and innovation and to be told by Dr. Robert Quarshie to wait for the next call for funding.
That’s all the strategy translates into: calls for funding with some 30% probability of getting a capital sum at the end. That is very different from having your monthly salary cheque!

Have you asked yourself whether it’s worth your time and money to comply to the conditions imposed by civil servants who do NOT have to ‘fight for a living’?
Well, three years of events, business cards, emails, proposals and applications have taught me more than I ever wanted to know: the organisational cultures in a male dominated world of public funding, publicly funded research, institutionalised science and the desperate search for innovation are not going to achieve their goals.
My former husband used to say that government departments always achieve the opposite of what they set out. Therefore a department of health should really be called the department of illness.. He knew, for he was the Assistant to the Director General of the Greater London Council. I’m finding out from personal experience.
What a sad state of the nation that wants to sell herself as “UK plc” – especially knowing what I know and having the kind of software and software designs I have!
Providence will tell us a lot as we move through these ‘interesting’ times!…
Buckminster Fuller managed to get his work into the world, too, by following his inner guidance and principles. I have enough evidence that my principles are working, too!
